In hot summery days it is very difficult to give proper water to our garden so conservation of water for our gardens is very importance but it is only possible in rainy days but what about in other days, this is were this Air-igator comes to risque. The AIR-igator collects the condensate water from air conditioners and stores it.

Air-igator consists of a 24” diameter reservoir with a latching cover, submersible pump, and a float control. The AIR-igator collects the condensate water from air conditioners and stores it, until is an adequate amount to run the low volume irrigation system. The float inside the reservoir will then start the pump, running until the tank is empty or signal a timer, allowing the system to run at a specified time. The 120V, 1200GPH pump and float are plugged into the nearest 120V outlet (within 15’) and the AIR-igator will run unattended.

The AIR-igator is designed for low-pressure micro irrigation system for the most efficient use of water, and is the easiest for the homeowner to maintain. The drip system uses “emitters” to place water directly at the base of the plant or tree, thereby providing the water where it is needed the most, with a minimal loss.

AIR-igator system is only available in Florida at price tag of approx 495$.

Fire-proof coating that could give protecton against intense heat

There are many fire proof coating available in the market for building materials and structures but they are no good against intense heat they break down at between 150-250°C, but this is going to change as researchers at CSIRO Australia have come up with a new coating material called HIPS (‘hybrid inorganic polymer system’) it can withstand temperatures of over 1000°C.

HIPS coatings contain an inorganic geopolymer resin, and a small component of polymer additives, it can be applied as easily as paint, it has the potential to form thin fireproof coatings on timbers such as weatherboards, and on metals such as structural or galvanized steel. It can also protect brickwork, either as a thin coating or as a render. HIPS can be applied by spray equipment, roller or brush, and cures from ambient temperature to below 90°C, it can be cheaply made from industrial by-products.

“Virtually waterless” laundry cleaning technology by XEROS

The next generation Eco friendly washing machine which could reduce the water usage by 90 %, this technology is developed by researchers at Leeds University, which is home to one of the UK’s most advanced textile institutes, they have established a company called Xeros Ltd to marked this laundry cleaning technology.

This technology cleans clothes using reusable nylon polymer beads with an inherent polarity that attracts stains. According to them the tiny nylon polymer beads are designed to gently but fully penetrate into a large wash load. Only a small amount of water is required to dampen the garments, loosen stains and create the water vapor that activates the “molecular magic” of the beads. The beads are then tumbled with the clothes, allowing the polarizing properties of polymer to attract and absorb dirt. Once diffused into the bead itself, stains are locked away from the garment, preventing redeposition, after washing completes this beads are automatically removed by the machine, this beads could last for about 100 loads adequate for the six months of average family usage.

The design for Spaceport America's terminal hangar facility was created by a team of American and British architects that were selected after competing in an international design competition. URS Corporation, one of the world's largest design and engineering firms, teamed with lead designer Foster + Partners of the United Kingdom to submit the winning design. Foster + Partners has extensive experience designing airport buildings and other high profile projects worldwide, will host commercial operations by private space travel companies, like Virgin Galactic.

The 110,000-plus square foot-facility using cost-effective, energy-efficient green building practices. Spaceport America's terminal hangar facility will be built to the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED rating system. Extensive use of sustainable and clean energy technology throughout the design will ensure that the spaceport will set the standard for environmentally sound design for similar structures in the future. Robots that can climb the poll

Now a days robots are helping in many areas like military, police, home,etc. and now they are going to help in difficult area like construction. Company at Virginia Tech Robotics and Mechanisms laboratory (ROMELA) have recently designed a robot that can climb the straight poll, it coils around the poll and roll upward using an oscillating joint motion, it also has sensors and camera for gathering data.

This robot is basically designed for helping construction area so human can work at safer side, it uses compressed air muscle for climbing it is also called CIRCA (Climbing Inspection Robot with Compressed Air), initially this robot is attached with laptop with cable for its work but in future design it will have microprocessor and power source for its independent operation.

Director of company ROMELA at Virginia Tech Mr. Dennis Hong said “The use of compressed air makes this approach feasible by enabling it to be light weight, providing compliant actuation force for generating the gripping force for traction, and allowing it to use a simple discrete control scheme to activate the muscles in a predetermined sequence.”

Company named FloDesign based in Massachusetts has developed very innovative concept of wind turbine based on jet engine technology, its unique design forces air through the blades. In traditional turbines when wind approach it could capture only 59 percent of wind energy as half of the air is forced around the blades.

FloDesign wind turbine is not too big but can generate enough electricity than traditional wind turbine with big diameter blades, so the new design wind turbine can be placed closer to each other as a result more power can be produce per acre of land, and more they are very quite and has long life as very less vibration is created than traditional wind turbine. Traditional wind turbine with 30 feet height and 90 meters long 3 blades and very costly transportation, where as new design is very easy to transport as is can be assembled on site "so cheaper transport cheaper turbine and cheaper electricity".

We must have suffered a battery loss at the time when its needed most but this could change in future as Prof.cho jae-phil and his team of Korea has developed a batteries for portable devices which last 8 times longer than recent one.

According to them cathode materials which is used in battery can increase the storage capacity of lithium secondary batteries to eight-fold. Graphite which is used in cathode can store limited amount of lithium ion but in this new technology silicon is used instead of graphite and its eight fold increases its storage capacity.

Unicycle is Self Balancing electric cycle which does not have paddle on it you also call it SBU (self balancing unicycle), SBU is developed by Focus Designs according to them SBU is 50% easier then previous design to maneuver as it has a system of accelerometers and gyroscopes to control forward and backward balance but rider has concentrate on sideways movement. Schmitz second entry is a wheelchair design based on the concept of a Transformable Wheel. Australian researchers has developed a cathode built fuel cells which are cheaper than traditional fuel cells.

Researchers of Australian Center of Excellence for Electromaterials Science has developed this cell with help of materials engineer professor Maria Forsythe.

Traditional fuel cells which convert hydrogen and oxygen to electricity which runs the car are made of cathode which has expensive platinum nanoparticles which can lose effectiveness by clumping togeather or becoming poisoned by carbon monoxide and they cost $3500 to $4000 for a single passenger car it covers almost cost of fuel cell.
