New concept of wind turbine FloDesign based on jet engine technology

Company named FloDesign based in Massachusetts has developed very innovative concept of wind turbine based on jet engine technology, its unique design forces air through the blades. In traditional turbines when wind approach it could capture only 59 percent of wind energy as half of the air is forced around the blades.

FloDesign wind turbine is not too big but can generate enough electricity than traditional wind turbine with big diameter blades, so the new design wind turbine can be placed closer to each other as a result more power can be produce per acre of land, and more they are very quite and has long life as very less vibration is created than traditional wind turbine. Traditional wind turbine with 30 feet height and 90 meters long 3 blades and very costly transportation, where as new design is very easy to transport as is can be assembled on site "so cheaper transport cheaper turbine and cheaper electricity".

But this all is in it's early stage as they only tested in wind tunnel, big scale prototype with 12-foot diameter will be completed in 2010 and it will produce 10-kilowatt of electricity and there after large turbine will be make that could produce 1 megawatt of electricity. [FloDesign]

Next Generation Underwater Turbine

Under water tidal power generation is not a new technology but it is improving day by day recently a group of engineers of oxford developed new design called Transverse Horizontal Axis Water Turbine which they think is more powerful and efficient than resent technology, according to them THAWT's ( Transverse Horizontal Axis Water Turbine ) manufacturing cost is 60% lower and has 40% lower maintenance cost.THAWT uses different technique than recent technology which has works as wind mill underwater, THAWT uses cylindrical rotors that rolls around its long axis with the flow of water. According to the engineer THAWT could produce 12 megawatts of energy which is enough for 12000 homes that recent one.

But even though with their achievement they are concerned of underwater ecology,Steph Merry, head of Renewable energy has told that in there design they have taken full consideration of climate change and the requirement of safeguarding the ecology of tidal areas.[Guardian.co.uk]

Ball Wind Turbine Power for Home

What a good looking wind turbine it does not look like traditional wind turbine, it is specially design for home user who want green and clean energy. Swedish engineered has designed this turbine. Swedish company named Home Energy has developed this innovative wind  turbine it works on Venturi principal, which funnels wind within the turbines blade. Home Energy has named it Energy Ball, spherical wind turbine design has increased its efficiency with less noise which is very good for home  users.

Energy Ball which works on Venturi Principal uses 6 blades to channel air through for spinning turbine, its special can take advantage of very low wind speed. The company Home Energy has specialty for developing small scale energy solution for home and offices and this Energy Ball is a great that they have developed any body could take and advantage of  it for green and clean energy.[FooZooDesign]

Cheaper backsheet for solar panels by BioSolar

Solar panels are getting costly as photovoltaic modules in solar panels are made of petroleum-based plastics as a protective backing and you know that petrol price are getting higher but this all is going to change as company named BioSolar has developed bio-based back sheet for solar panels according to them it could last for 20-25 years and manufacturing cost is also 25% cheaper than plastic.

The standard solar panel backsheet costs between $0.70 and $1.00 per square foot. BioSolar’s material is currently estimated to reduce manufacturing costs by 25%, and the company believes it possible to reach the 50% mark. The biomaterial can be produced using existing industrial machines, eliminating the need to purchase new manufacturing systems and lowering costs for adopters.BioSolar expects the market for solar panel backsheets to grow from its current value of $300 million to $1 billion by 2010. Future of Green Energy is below Ground

Future of our energy needs could be satisfied by the hot magma in our earth Australian study says that 1% of Australia's geothermal power potential could provide the nation with a whopping 26,000 years of energy.

It could relay works it could solve our big need of energy. Australian Geothermal Energy Association says that this could work my drilling 2.8 miles into the surface of the earth into the hot magma. This project could cost $10.45 billion but this is only one them cost after this is done we could get green energy for atleast 26,000 years.[DVICE]

Flying Power Plant by "Cool Earth"

Cool Earth has developed new solar power technology which could be the lightest solar concentrator it weight just 20 pound. This power plant is inflatable with transparent plastic on the top and reflective plastic on the bottom which concentrate sunlight on PV cell placed at the focal point.

The company is trying to reduce its cost and clamming that one balloon can generate 500 watts which enough for chilling our bear. let us see when this technology is comes in the market in future we cold see our house or office electricity is produce by this type of balloon flying in garden on terace. Charge Cellpnone With Kinetic Energy

It's relay fantastic idea of charging our cellphone, ipode, etc. on the move it is called "Mobile Power Generation Solution" and it is developed by the company name M2E (Motion 2 Energy). It was first developed for the military in Jan08 but the company now planing to develop for commercial market which could solve the problem of battery charging for the latest mobile devices and electronic gadgets.

The company is planing to put this technology in the market later this month which could produce 200 to 300 percent more energy than recent technologies. They have also planed to charge D, AA and even AAA cells. This technology could change our future it could be useful in may ways it could generate electricity from every physical thing that is in motion like wind power and automotive etc. company is also focusing on that area too. World's First Light powered Motor

Research team at Tokyo institute of technology has developed a motor which entirely runes on light, rather than photovoltaic cells which convert light to electricity this motor has special elastomer whose molecular structure expands or contracts when when light falls on it, this is how this motor can convert light energy directly into the mechanical energy.

Team was working on this project since 2003 when they found that plastic compound containing azobenze can expand in ultraviolet light and regain its original shape in normal visible light since then they had improved very much. They performed the test by rotating a pair of wheels measuring 3 millimeters and 10 millimeters in diameter looped with shape shifting plastic coated 0.08 millimeter belt, when ultraviolet light was shine on small wheels and visible light on small wheel they starts rotating with a top speed of 1 rpm.

The coated film measured 4 times elastic than human muscle, this thing is not very efficient but it can be improved to convert light energy into mechanical energy. [Via: pinktentacle]
